Williamstown, MA (PRWEB) March 12, 2013 — Local web agency Berkshire Direct recently completed and launched a new website for Cord Master Engineering and Meehan Electronics Corporation. You can view the new site live at http://www.mec-cme.com.
“Back in 2010, we originally built two separate sites for these two closely-related businesses, but it was time for a redesign and an upgrade in terms of look/feel and capabilities,” said Allen Jezouit, owner of Berkshire Direct. “So much has changed in terms of what’s achievable on small business budgets for new, improved websites in just 3 years. It is incredible how far WordPress – and all of the plugins and themes available – have come.”
“Berkshire Direct did a great job on the project. They took the time to understand our needs – both for today and for the future – and built us a great looking site. We can’t wait for new and potential customers to see it,” said Qurban Khalsa, COO of MEC-CME, Inc.

Williamstown, MA (January 4, 2012) – Local web agency Berkshire Direct has had several clients receive a document that looks like an invoice from a company called “DNS Services” requesting an annual fee. This pseudo-invoice is a scam and should not be paid. The invoice purports to be for “domain management services” related to clients’ domain names. It appears to be a broad-based program because Berkshire Direct clients both locally and from as far away as Colorado received the fake invoices this week.
The invoice appears very authentic, with an account number and very specific company information including owner’s name, business address and business’ domain name. It also has a detached portion to return with a payment. In reality, the invoice is an offer and in the fine print it reads, “This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, and not a bill, invoice, or statement of the account due. You are under no obligation to make any payments…unless you accept this offer.”
“We’re in the web business and we deal with a lot of small businesses whose owner also wears the ‘IT Manager’ or ‘web master’ hat. We know how many hours small business owners work and how tired they might be when they are paying their bills late one night … you get the picture,” said Berkshire Direct’s owner, Allen Jezouit. “This type of mailing preys upon some small percentage who will write that check for $65 without even really looking too deeply into it because ‘DNS Services’ sounds official and they don’t really remember who they got their domain from originally anyway. Some part of the internet are still the wild, wild west … caveat emptor can be a full contact sport.”

We’re in the middle of moving from our old location at 173 Water Street, Suite 7, Williamstown, MA 01267 to our new location at 616 Main Street in Williamstown.
This means that our old office is available for rent: http://westernmass.craigslist.org/off/3452719823.html
If you know of anyone looking for office space, be sure to share this with them.
Hostgator is upgrading our dedicated server on January 12, 2013. The new server will be a vast improvement over the current box.
- Eight (8) Intel Xeon Processors
- 4 Gigabytes of RAM (previous box only had 2 Gigs)
- New hard-disk is a 1 Terabyte RAID1 setup, which means there are two 1 Terabyte drives that are constantly mirroring one another so if a drive craps out, there is no downtime – you just replace the bad drive.
Our old box could be down for 4-5 hours if a hard drive went bad, and the data would be only as good as the last backup. With the new scenario, the data will nearly real-time identical on each drive, so if one goes bad, the other runs on while the bad one is replaced. Result – no downtime. That’s pretty slick.
Let me know if you have any questions about the upgrade, hosting, etc.

LOCAL MARKETING AGENCY PRESENTS SOCIAL MEDIA SEMINAR TO HUMAN RESOURCES ASSOCIATION OF BERKSHIRE COUNTY
Williamstown, MA (December 12, 2012) – Berkshire Direct, a local marketing agency in Williamstown, presented “HR GPS to Navigating the World of Social Media” for the Human Resources Association of Berkshire County (HRABC). The presentation took place at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield and is part of HRABC’s monthly meetings. Topics included screening prospective applicants, using social media as a recruiting tool, monitoring existing employees, controlling social media use during working hours and legal considerations. Allen Jezouit, owner of Berkshire Direct and Kimberly Ciola, Project Manager for Berkshire Direct led the presentation, taking questions and engaging the HRABC members in discussions from best practices to how social media can both hinder and contribute to their departments.
Christine Phillips Executive Vice President of Operations from United Personnel said, “Berkshire Direct’s presentation was timely and extremely informative. With each passing day, our society is becoming more entrenched in using social media to communicate, share ideas, promote our businesses and services. It is imperative as HR professionals, that we have policies and training in place to educate our employees on how to use social media appropriately and professionally. Both Kimberly and Allen provided an in-depth presentation on this subject and offered excellent suggestions on social media policies and provided links to online resources that we can tap into. ”
The presentation can be viewed on Berkshire Direct’s website, berkshiredirect.com, and can be tailored for presentations with other departments and associations.

Health & Wellness Channel is pleased to announce the signing of well-known cardiologist, author, speaker, and professional chef Dr. Mike Fenster, M.D., F.A.C.C., FSCA&I, PEMBA to host the show, “JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED.” A cooking show with a twist, Dr. Mike not only prepares delicious, healthy meals, but in the process debunks widely accepted nutritional and cooking ‘facts’ such as the taboo of sodium, the crusade against red meat, and other hot-button topics of nutrition that are best delivered with the credibility of an interventional cardiologist. “Dr. Mike is a rare find: a cardiologist who advocates adding a pinch of salt to your meals and making cheeseburgers (alas with chevre and bison). He gives us all reason to believe that we can live healthy, long lives, while still enjoying them!” says Drew Nederpelt of HWC.
The show, which will be filmed for broadband and cable, and is co-produced by partners Dr. Mike Fenster and Mike Joerger, will be taped in front of a studio audience and will include special drop-in guests in the fields of medicine, nutrition, homeopathy, fitness, wellness, and celebrity. Dr. Mike says, “My passion has always been cooking, and I am delighted to have signed with HWC so that I might combine that passion with bringing the gospel of healthy and delicious eating to a larger audience. HWC is going to be everyone’s favorite channel!”

Williamstown, MA (December 4, 2012) – K&J Holdings, LLC acquired 616-620 Main Street in Williamstown, MA on Monday, December 3, 2012. The property features two offices on the first floor and three residential apartments on the second floor. Maureen Baran and the team at Adams Community Bank provided financing. The buyers were represented by Al Marden of Alton-Westall and Stan Parese of Parese, Sabin, Smith and Gold, LLP. Details of the transaction were not released.
“We’re excited about the property,” said Allen Jezouit of K&J. “It is a great location within easy walking distance to the Williams College campus and Spring Street.” He added, “We have one apartment open today, so if you know anyone who is interested, please have them contact us.”
The Travel Store will continue operations on the first floor and Berkshire Direct, a local marketing agency, will be relocating from their Water Street location to Main Street in early January.
“We own the Water Street property where Berkshire Direct is located, so their move to Main Street is opening up a nice suite of offices there,” said Jezouit. “That’s my next priority – getting those offices rented out. Then, we look at more properties to purchase. It is a great time to buy real estate.”
Berkshire Direct is going to have a booth tonight at The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce’s B2B Showcase at the Crowne Plaza in Pittsfield. Stop by and say hi!
We met Jim Czarnecki from Taking Shape at the Berkshire Visitor’s Bureau Annual Meeting last week. He dropped his business card in our bowl and he’s the winner of a $100 Baba Louie’s Gift Certificate.
